I know I promised some Hands-On Science, but we are being blessed this week with an unexpected field trip and I just had to share how we’re making it even moreFUN!!!!
As a homeschooling mom, I’m always on the lookout for new, fun and exciting field trips for my kids. I’ve mentioned before that we’re members of our local zoo, so we frequent it quite often. We also have an Aquarium in our area. We have been only once since moving back here and that’s been years! But, we have been blessed with aFREE– yes…FREEtrip to the Aquarium this Wednesday night! I was beyond giddy when I found out Sunday night!! Why? Because it’s stinkin’ expensive and it just wasn’t in our budget for a family trip, which would cost us nearly $50!! But, we get to go forFREE(can you tell I’m excited?)!!
So, like any good homeschooling mother, I went to the computer to “plan” our trip. I went their website first and under the field trip tab I found a Scavenger Hunt just for their facility!! YAY!! It even included an answer key! WAHOO!
But there was nothing for younger kids. So, I set out to make a BINGO game for the Mister Mouse and Miss Priss. I created it using public pictures I found online. I also used pictures that correspond to the answers on the Scavenger Hunt! Aren’t I so smart?!
Here is the bingo game I made called “OCEAN”. Clever, right?! HAHA!

In searching my homeschool database on my own computer, I also found a couple of other Sea Creature/Marine Animal units! SCORE! These two websites also happen to be two of my favorite FREE homeschool printable resources!!
Mister Bull is going to complete the Sea Animals Unit I got from Homeschool Express last year. You can download numerous units for just $2 each in their shop OR simply sign up for their FREE weekly Thematic Units, which is how I got mine. I printed the unit in booklet form to change things up a bit from the normal papers. Plus, I think booklets make little unit studies easier to keep track of!
I also had an Ocean unit study for Preschool and Pre-K ages from 2 Teaching Mommies. I printed out most of the activities from their unit to play games, reinforce math skills, pattern work and some other fun things for the Middles. But, Mister Bull will probably do a couple of the activities with us too.
Then, I printed out some coloring pages of ocean animals that I found online. I simply searched for what animals I was looking and coloring pages. I picked ones that were fairly simple and not complex, because Mister Bull isn’t a huge fan of coloring and the Middles…well, we’ll be lucky if they color for more than 2 minutes!
I am super excited to use these activities and simple unit studies this week to enhance not only our trip to the Aquarium, but also our knowledge of God’s amazing underwater creatures!!
What’s your favorite homeschool field trip?
Thanks for stopping by today!
Blessings,
Annette
