I know it’s been a long while since I have been on here. December was a much needed break not only from school, but from blogging. I needed a time of refreshing and reflection. Unfortunately, some of that time was spent sick in the hospital, but nevertheless I was able to rest.
So what can you expect from IAYD in 2013? Well, you can expect some changes for one thing! Of course I still plan to talk about homemaking, recipes and homeschooling. But I have had such a great response to the Unit Studies I put out late last year that I have decided to concentrate more time on those. In fact, every Sunday night/Monday morning you will see a new weekly post of Mini Unit Studies: Obscure Holidays for the following week. You’re probably wondering what a Mini Unit Study is and what is an obscure holiday. Well, here’s the answer to both. A Mini Unit Study is one that can be completed in a day. There will likely not be a lot of “school work” involved, but they will be TONS of FUN!!! And an obscure holiday is a holiday that is just for fun. They are not days you can take off from work or school, but they can add a lot of FUN to your work or school days!
The reason I am so committed to making these Mini Unit Studies is to bring more FUN into our homeschooling day. I have become quite predictable and boring. I want to enjoy our homeschooling time more and be more involved with my kids. So this seemed like the perfect way to do both!
So, here is the first installment of my Mini Unit Studies. I know these are studies for this week, but hopefully you can implement them quite easily into your schooling! I hope to have next weeks Mini Unit Studies up sometime tomorrow so you can plan more in advance.
